The Imperial Hotel in New Delhi was built in 1931. The colonial façade of the hotel can be attributed to Brom, one of the partners of Lutyen, who designed the main administrative buildings of British India. Tall palm trees line the majestic porch, and the architecture reminds one of the Parliament Building, also designed during the colonial era.
Located on Janpath, which is a major shopping district of Delhi and is the address of many political heavyweights, including the Prime Minister, the Imperial hotel provides superb accommodation to its guests, and is a perfect base for those keen on exploring the sight and sounds of Delhi.
Guests can choose accommodation from the Imperial, Heritage rooms and Imperial, Heritage, Deco, Deluxe, Lutyens and Royal Imperial suites. The Imperial room has every luxury imaginable, from temperature control, tea maker, individual bar, dual line phones and bathrooms fitted by Fragonard from Italy. Satellite TV beams many national and international TV channels into the rooms. |
